New (to me) S&W 17-2 |

After trying to acquire one for several years I finally traded off my Ruger Super Redhawk for a S&W model 17-2! It did have a slight rust issue along the
front sight, but otherwise the bluing is perfect. Hardly even a turn line on it!
Now I can practice with this one and save the model 48 for hunting!!

Oh my! That is a beauty. Especially with those grips.
I've never owned a Model 48, but I do have a couple of Model 17s and both are accurate enough that I don't know that the .22 mag would provide any advantage at ranges I'd shoot at an animal. |

You will not regret going with a model 17 reguardless of vintage. They have a great way of putting a smile on your face when you shoot them.

Thanks Jim! I like it. Now I just have to get another set of fake ivory grips and I'll have a "matching" pair! LOL

Hello Keith
That is a very nice model 17-2. I happen to have an extra pair of Smooth Presentation Grade Book Grain Matching Factory Target grips if you are interested ? I have a model 17-2 that dates 1964 that shipped with a special order single action and Red Patridge Post King Front sight, that I swapped a M&P from 1947 for. Regards, H.D.

Hey Keith
You did not say whether or not you wanted the Pair of smooth targets I offered you above in my Previous post, so I decided to keep them and refinished them to my Liking. I now have a nice set to place on one of my K-Sq. Frame Target Guns.. H.D.

Sorry Kurt! I've been so busy with schoolwork, regular work, and trying to get some Salmon fishing in I didn't see your post! As usual, I'm a day
late, and a dollar short! LOL
I probably would have been interested, don't particularly care for the Hogue grips........just don't "feel" right in my hands for some reason althought they are nice grips! Keith |
