While at the recent S&WCA meeting, I swapped into an Unfired Model 24-3 .44 Special revolver. While at the same show, I had an eye on a Nice Registered Magnum. It came with a Factory letter that said it shipped to Augusta, Georgia on December 3, 1935 and was Owned by an FBI Agent. Oddly enough, it had a Patridge front sight blade as most with a 3-1/2" Barrel are seen with the Baughman or Mcgivern Gold Bead,. Sadly,The Lower Grip frame had been cut on this Magnum to allow the use of K-Sq. Grips on it. I Looked it over closely and figured I could have the frame repaired. It evidently has Not been back to the factory Like most R.M.'s as it does not have a five sided Star on it Nor any date stamps on the grips frame indicating it was returned to the factory for work. A closer inspection revealed it had been shot very Little as it hardly has a flame Travel line above the forcing cone.I Looked at it Three days in a row then decided to Buy it late Saturday afternoon. I hope to get it out to Hamilton Bowen this week and have him look at the grip frame to give me an idea of what it will cost to Put back to it's original configuration. I Never dreamed of Owning a Registered Magnum, But this one was Priced right and came with a Factory letter as well. I can't wait to fire it at the range..Now I have a pair of 3-1/2" Pre-27's in each finish, to me it was the Most elaborate Revlover S&W ever made....Hammerdown
