About a month ago, I Noticed George Wimer had a Bunch of Original-N-Frame Presentation cases for sale on Gunbroker.com. I Promptly contacted George and asked if he felt a 3-1/2" -N-Frame revolver would fit in one of his 4"Cases ? He replied that a 3-1/2" Barrel revolver would Indeed fit in a 4" Case, so I told him I would take Two one being for my Pre-27 revolver and the Other 4" Case being for my Model 57 revolver. The Pictures he provided showed both Cases to be nice, but Missing thier internal flocking as most are. One thing I noticed with the flocking gone, was that the Internal Molds were in Perfect shape so I told him to send me Two of them. They arrived and I took my Pre-27 to see how it would look in it's New Case, and George was Dead WRONG. A 3-1/2" Barrel-N-Frame revolver Will NOT fit into a 4" Case.
The Barrel length was too short on the Revolver along with the Under Barrel shroud leaving it not fitting right into the case I had
now Bought. 
I Now had no choice but to
"CUT" down the 4" Case to make my 3-1/2" Barrel revolver fit into it as finding a 3-1/2" Barrel case would be almost
a Mission Impossible. I Knew I would have to add Plastic Material from the end of the barrel to the end of the case insert, so I cut a Piece
of Plastic out of an existing case mold I had robbed the tool tray material out of for one of member Ralph Geer's Cases, I then used
Epoxy to Mend in the Piece I added, and smoothed the case surface out with Automotive Bondo and sanded it smooth. I was
concerned about strength of this Modified case insert, so I Then used Matt & Resin on the rear of the case form to make it more solid in
nature. I then flocked Both set's of case inserts and they are shown below. I know for a pre-27 That shipped in 1954 they would have come in a
Gold & Blue Box, but this Gun to Me is Far too nice to Not sit into a presentation case, so the Project served me well.
While at the annual S&W Collectors meeting a couple of
weeks ago, I Picked up the Original 9 Row Knurled Nickel Handle sight adjuster along with the original Factory dry fire
target, Warranty Card and Ten rig Tips Brochure rounding out the complete Package as shown below. Ole Mabel My Model 57 .41 Magnum
now has a nice fresh Bed to Lay in as well shown ...H.D.
