When I bought this gun some 25 years ago I was a little dissapointed that the Grips had been damaged. The fiesty Chief Gunners Mate that sold it said
"What do you expect they were in Viet Nam for more than a Year." When this Coast Guardsman got orders for Viet Nam he figured that he should have a
personal gun and found this 1955 Target Model 25 for sale used. It was very accurate, reasonably powerful and used the only revolver ammunition that would be
readily available in Viet Nam, the .45 Acp He sent it back to S&W and they went through it shipped back before he left the States. He did not have any
stories that he wanted to share but this gun must have been a comfort to him while he patroled the rivers of Viet Nam. I took the original grips off and put
them in a box right after I got it. I put on a set of rubber grips and have been very pleased with the gun since then. Kurt did a great job of repairing the
grips.
